Nous avons eu l'honneur d'accueillir Coco et Breezy dans notre showroom. Elles ont rendu l'ambiance plus électrique que jamais et ont donné à la collection une touche d'excentrisme qu'on ne pouvait soupçonner.

DAY 2 : BIG SUR

Après un tour vers Carmel, Chris décide aujourd’hui de s’arrêter sur la côte californienne et plus précisément à Big Sur.
Il est tout d’abord époustouflé par ce merveilleux spectacle que la nature joue devant lui. Il a alors cette impression qu’on ne ressent que très rarement, celle qui vous envahit sans vous submerger, celle qui vous fait oublier les contingences en ne vous laissant que le meilleur : vivre l’instant présent. Devant ces falaises, comme tombées dans l’océan, il ne dit rien. Il ne pense à rien. Il observe et tout lui semble suffisant.

Quelques heures plus tard, devant ces paysages à la fois beaux et insolents il se souvient de ce peintre et romancier aux textes magnifiques et choquants. Cet homme qui avait scandalisé l’Amérique puritaine et qui avait passé la fin de ses jours à Big Sur: Henry Miller.

Il décide d’aller à la Coast Gallery où sont exposées ses oeuvres.

Chris trouve ces oeuvres brillantes: un savant mélange des couleurs, des formes asymétriques délicates en somme un art maitrisé.

Saisi de cet art, il se balade dans la ville et tombe sur cet hotel niché dans les arbres.le Post Ranch Inn

San Francisco - Day 1 -

Chris est l’homme d’ici et de nul part. Il se loge sans s’installer et fait de son quotidien des habitudes sans lendemain. D’où vient il? Il s’est forcé de l’oublier. Il garde juste l’intime conviction que le plus important est de savoir où il va. Un road trip de San Francisco à Los Angeles: voilà le chemin qu’il a décidé de suivre pour l‘instant. Il emporte uniquement avec lui sa passion pour la mode et l’écriture. C’est sur une poésie bohême qu’on lira les vers de cet artiste poète.

10H Il s’ennivre dans les rues de San Francisco et il ne peut s’empecher de s’arrêter devant cette vitrine. Harputs shop.

Il entre et découvre alors
la collection U-NI-TY. Il s’arrête sur une tenue. Un mélange de matière et de style pour un look en toute désinvolture et élégance : tout à fait lui.

11h30 Il continue sa traversée. Un autre coup d’œil se transforme alors en coup de cœur, en coup de foudre. The Archive l’attire par son côté branché, ses collections européennes et japonaises.

12h45 Les émotions ouvrent l’appétit. Il s’arrête au 3640 Sacramento Street pour aller au Spruce restaurant. Un merveilleux restaurant gastronomique connu pour son esprit convivial.

15h L’artiste se balade au cœur de l’ancien quartier hippie à Haight-Ashbury. On ressent encore l’âme du psychédélisme dans ces rues à contre courant.

20h Il ne peut pas manquer l’immanquable. Il dine chez Slanted Door où le chef Charles Phan mélange cuisine vietnamienne traditionnelle avec produits californiens locaux pour une expèrience culinaire unique.

Hello everyone after vacation! Even if in Paris these days the sky is blue and the sun is still shining we can't forget that the winter is coming. To be ready for new Fall Winter season we made a little review of trends and propose you to have a look.
Colors which designers offer for men this season are mostly dark: black, grey, brown, deep green, etc.

Black is classic, whatever people say I never feel tired to be repeating that again and again. Many designers created black items. Some outfits were total black, others came combined with lighter tones.

Grey and metallic have been competing for popularity with black but none could win. And we see lots of ensembles with this hue included.

Greens, dark green in particular, have also been chosen by some couturiers. And there is no wonder. We all miss the summer with it’s greenery and warmth.

Plaids,prints and stripes were introduced to many items: shirts, vests, pants, etc. These patterns give an urban outlook and a fresh perspective to men’s wardrobes

As you know this week end Paris Men Fashion week passed. And U-NI-TY participated salon in Tranoi for 3 days. We think this season was very successful for us, we found new clients from Dubai, Russia, Switzerland, United States and Japan and our old clients were very satisfied with the new SS 2011 collection.

U-NI-TY this season presented fresh collection based on blue, grey, navy colors and its trademark - tailoring, patchwork, worked jackets with a lot of details and absolutely amazing and huge collection of scarfs. You can find scarfs inspired by Woodstock and hippi 60s,simple classic cachemere scarfs etc. Light tissures, panamas, carrot trousers, floral scarfs and shirts. Its real summer, be ready;)

As you can understand the main idea of the new SS 2011 collection is the spirit of the 60s. So we decided to make a little fashion review of these unforgettable era)

1960s fashion for men was not as revolutionary as it was for women but there was a lot of change. Ties, belts and lapels got wider, collars got longer and wider and a modified version of the bell bottom called "flared" became popular. The conserative men's suit took on some geometric design along with the flare in the pants leg and wider lapels. Sport shirts were the norm for causal wear with the polo style being the most popular.

Men were not immune from the British invasion however and some very Mod influences managed to creep into what was once the ultra conserative men's business attire. Patterns grew bolder as did color choices. No longer were blue, black or grey the only suit choices. Ties and shirts became more colorful as well.

By the end of the sixties some fashions were here to stay, the flaired dress slack would remain in style for another decade ties and lapels didn't skinny up for another 20 - 25 years either. But among the young crowd anything that was different from the norm was cool, hip and definetly groovy.

Idea: As we all know the 24th of June in Paris will start Men Fashion week and U-NI-TY will participate in this event. And for everyone who are interested in but who has no opportunity to participate the show we decided to make this Countdown where we will describe the preparation process, share photos and this way you will have impression you are a part of a U-NI-TY team.

23 Days to Show

We have 23 days and plenty of work!!The main inspiration idea for this collection was Highway 1 in California which leads from San Francisco till Los Angeles. Bikers, cowboys, Harley Davidson, sun, wind, freedom, veterans, Mustang, the coast.

So by seeing these pictures you can find out the main idea of the Collection.

For today the Newsletter is ready and here it is.

For the moment we are working on two different and special ideas:

- we decided to make the Show in the new location which reflects into U-NI-TY spirit the most, but for now this place is a secret

- we ll make a special event for our fans and we ll update you asap about.

Voici enfin l’été, il était temps. Nous allons enfin pouvoir porter des shorts et bermuda. Depuis l’été 2009, les marques de luxe et de créateurs font défiler des hommes vêtus de mini-shorts arrivant en haut des cuisses, parfois à mi-cuisse. Une tendance que l’on retrouve aussi dans les collections 2010, mais malheureusement encore très rarement dans la rue. Commercialement, ça fonctionne mal. Les marques de streatwear et jeaners prennent moins de risque avec des bermudas tombant au niveau du genou. Voici une sélection issue des collections été 2010.

Comment définir un homme élégant de nos jours? L'homme s'est -enfin- libéré de bien des contraintes et des a priori. Et, il est bien fini le temps ou l'on accusait un homme d'être affecté, s'il s'habillait comme il en avait envie. Cependant, un problème se pose chaque matin au mâle contemporain. Que porter? Que choisir? Quel pull, quel jean's, gilet ou pas gilet, écharpe ou foulard? Faisons abstraction des hommes travaillant dans les banques ou dans les secteurs de la réprésentation par exemple. Ces catégories doivent impérativement entrer dans un moule bien défini ou la cravate est l'arme fatale…

Since the very beginning, the summer collection has been a mix of different spirits, a kind of ethnic/safari/hobo/hippy one with the hats, the scarves, the shirts, and a more rock'n'roll gentleman one with the suits.

Depuis le début, l'été a toujours été un mélange de différentes inspirations, avec d'un côté un esprit éthnique/safari/hobo/hippie de part les chapeaux, les écharpes, les chemises, et de l'autre un esprit plus chic rock'n'roll part les costumes.

Yesterday, we took the pictures for the new lookbook man FW 2010. We spent a nice day in a funny relaxed atmosphere, everybody enjoyed it, and trust us, it is not always like that for the other brands! We just prefer to work in a cool atmosphere because everybody feel better and can give the best.

Avant hier, nous avons shooté le nouveau lookbook homme de l'A/H 2010. Nous avons tous passé un agréable moment, dans une atmosphère sympa et détendue, et vous pouvez nous croire, ce n'est pas toujours le cas ailleurs! Disons que nous préférons travailler dans la joie et la bonne humeur, parce que tout le monde se sent mieux et peut fournir le meilleur.

U-NI-TY did the French fashion show Tranoï last week. That was great, with lots of new things, and designers. We met various magazines such as FashionMag or the Italian Vogue. To make people aware of the brands, and to develop the exchanges between the fashion world and people, Tranoï created the "Community" on its website. So now, U-NI-TY has its own profile there (on Youtube too) and we invite everybody who love fashion to join us there (everybody can create a profil).

U-NI-TY a participé au salon de mode Tranoï la semaine dernière. C'était sympa, avec plein de nouvelles choses et de créateurs. Nous avons eu la chance de rencontrer certains magazines féminins comme le FashionMag ou Vogue Italie. Afin de mettre la mode à portée de toutes et tous et de faciliter ainsi les échanges, le Tranoï a créé son réseau "Community". U-NI-TY y a donc son profil (également sur Youtube) et tout le monde peut faire de même.

U-NI-TY is in New York: J-P and Greg Gassa are attending Rendez-Vous La.Venue to introduce the first U-NI-TY woman's collection. They arrived on thursday and chose to stay at the Ace Hotel. They probably gonna visit some flea markets, or go to the Opening Ceremony shop with whom U-NI-TY works (New York, Los Angeles, Japan).

For its new collection Fall Winter 2010-2011, U-NI-TY made a hat that reminds Charlie Winston's one. His hobo spirit totally fits the universe of U-NI-TY which picks up ideas from the 30's, a period of social troubles in the USA (Great Depression, Dust Bowl, homeless people...).

For its lookbook Fall Winter 2010-2011, U-NI-TY chose Alex Cunha, a brazilian model considered as the future catwalk star. He perfectly embodies the universe of the brand: young, charismatic, smart and natural, so are U-NI-TY pieces of clothing.

U-NI-TY distances itself by picking up ideas from the 30’s and the cinema. Ken Loach’s movie The wind that shakes the Barley which deals with the conflict between the Irish community and the English one, inspired the new Fall Winter 2010-2011 collection.

The spirit of the collection comes from this Irish resistance: the natural colors (wine dregs, khaki, heather green, aubergine), the cuts that bring back to mind the country clothes. The fabrics are closed to those used in the 30’s and U-NI-TY has rethought them: velvet fabric, woollen cloth, flannel,cashmere garment dye. The cuts are updated with the special seams and the sleeves are embroidered, which soften the military aspect. We could also find this atmosphere in the presentation of the clothes that reminded the military dormitory, inspired by Kounellis’ minimalist installations.

This collection puts a stress on the “classy hobo” side of the brand, especially with all these handmade pieces of clothing: the embroidered jackets that are enriched by patchworks and the tweed that is colored by spray...

…a touch of continuity, folklore and fashion.

U-NI-TY vintage was introduced towards the end of 2004 by a Franco-Italian designer Mr J-P Gassa. In an attempt to remain timeless, U-NI-TY vintage is getting close to a civilian uniform, and with the new figure it creates a modern tailoring that has become its trademark.

The inspiration behind the lifestyle collection is a mixture of European culture, modern classics, vintage clothes and military outfits picked up at flea markets in Paris, New York, Tokyo and Amsterdam. It is influenced by photography, architecture... and with all generations of charismatic and elegant icons of style from the music and the cinema. The collection has been inspired by the Savil Row unique know-how and by the Napolitan tailorman master from where the designer took details, particularity and essence.

The aim is to play with codes between seriousness and stylish humour, almost arrogant even provocative, to juxtapose influences to create eclectic figures, to reject conformism. It is a classic revisited nonetheless.

This collection represents the emotions and the attempts relaited to a laidback and male elegance. Everything is a matter of interpretation, the slightest detail is of great importance. A denial of conformism and an effort to go beyond the classics.
